The group set off in pleasant weather from Olis at Rauðavatn at 9:03 a.m. and drove as far as Tungufell in Hrunamannahreppi, where they entered the Hrunamanna commonland just east of the Hvítá river. There, more people joined the group, and a total of 12 cars with nearly 30 people and two dogs on board continued on their way.

We continued onto a gravel road and turned east. After crossing the Heiðará River, we followed a trail south for quite a distance to the gorges of the Stóra Laxá River. There we stopped and walked to the beautiful and spectacular gorges.

Now we headed back onto the line road and drove east. Again, we turned off the line road east of Svartá and now headed north toward the 4×4 Southlands Chapter's cabin at Sultarfit. There we stopped to eat our packed lunches in the sun, sheltered by the cabin.

Next, we continued north in bright and beautiful, but cold weather with a great view of Kerlingafjöll and out onto Langjökull. The trail ran through a varied landscape of gravel and rocky areas, with the occasional river in between. The drive continued until it reached a trail junction where the choice was to head into Setur or towards the settlement of Svínarnes.

We rested there for a while, chatting together and enjoying the view and the pleasant weather in the highland stillness, which was magnificent that day.

Since it was already late in the day, it was decided to head toward Svínárnes. The trip went smoothly over sand, gravel, and rivers, until the fan belt on one of the cars gave out. A spare belt was on hand, and experienced men quickly and surely fixed it.

Finally, they drove back onto the trail and down below Tungufell, where they stopped and said their goodbyes. This wonderful trip was formally concluded, and now everyone went their separate ways.
