The trip to Þórsmörk was announced on short notice, as the previous plan had been canceled due to rain. Despite that, the travelers didn't let it deter them.
The journey began from Olís at Rauðavatn on Saturday, June 6, at 10:01 AM in five cars, full of a good travel spirit, snacks, and the calm anticipation that comes with heading into the natural paradise that is Þórsmörk. The group headed straight east to Selfoss, where Jón Valgeir was waiting to join them. From there, they drove on to Hvolsvöllur, where they made a short stop before heading into the mountains.

It had rained lightly on the way, and when looking toward Þórsmörk, the sky was rather gloomy. However, it was as if the valley wanted to welcome the group, because as they arrived at Seljalandsfoss, the rain began to let up, although it was still dark to see into the valley. There, the tires were inflated, as is proper before embarking on serious off-road driving, and then they continued on.

The conditions proved to be good; the rivers were low, and as we went further in, the light began to break through the clouds. The sun appeared from time to time, giving the landscape a new hue. We drove across one river after another, all of them rather shallow.

When they reached Krossa on the way into Langadal, the cards were read, the line was taken, and then they set off into the river. However, Krossa proved to be no obstacle for the Rovers, who safely got the group across.

We stopped at Langadal and took out our snacks in the beautiful weather. There, people and dogs alike got to stretch their legs, chat, and enjoy each other's company. The surroundings were at their most beautiful: green ridges, steep slopes, the sound of a river, and that incredible Thórsmörk sky that makes even a simple snack stop a memorable moment. People enjoyed the pleasant weather, the scenery, and the company before setting off again.

After a good while, we drove back over Krossá and next stopped in Básar. There, the conversation continued, of course mostly about Land Rovers, travel, routes, cars, and the next possible adventure. There's something special about such moments; the cars are parked side by side, coffee mugs in the air, and the conversations always circle back to the joy of travel.

Finally, it was time to head home. Before reaching Seljalandsfoss, we stopped to re-inflate the tires, and with that, the formal program of the trip came to an end. After that, everyone went their separate ways, surely a little richer for the good memories, the fresh air, and yet another fun trip to the museum.
